About Me
Nice to meet you!
Hi, I’m Eva! I’m a Polestar Pilates Practitioner and nationally certified Pilates teacher (PMA-CPT).
I want to help you move better, feel better and enjoy your life to the fullest.
Why?
I spent 24 years running a very successful German translation business specialized in health, medicine and fitness. In 2006, I also began teaching yoga. I always loved movement and felt pretty healthy, but all that desk work in addition to old injuries took its toll. My neck and my arms hurt so badly – all the way down to my fingertips – I thought I’d have to stop working at the job I loved. Something clearly had to change. But what?
After an agonizing journey from massage therapists of all kinds to doctors, an amazing physical therapist finally steered me towards Pilates in 2012 and I’ve never looked back: I am now free from my chronic shoulder, wrist and back pain and can once again fully enjoy my work, my workouts and my life!
I knew that what had worked for me would work for others if I could only show them how.
Through rigorous, extensive training with one of the best Pilates programs out there, continuing education and my personal quest for knowledge, I’ve learned to do just that. And what’s more, I know that every body needs something a little bit different and what that is. That’s why I create completely customized Pilates sessions for every client, every time.
I have helped desk workers and musicians, roadies and artists (this is Nashville, after all!), athletes and seniors get out of pain, safely rehab their bodies and quickly gain strength and flexibility.
My goal is to show you how to heal your body through movement.
That’s why I’ve created Sunroom Pilates – A Brighter Place. I want the space I love so much to be a bright spot in your life as well. I want you to feel welcome here, no matter what your age, ability, gender or size.
As a Polestar Pilates Practitioner, I have completed a rigorous 500-hour, comprehensive, yearlong training capped by an intensive 2-day exam. A nationally certified PMA-CPT, I spent weeks studying for the national certification exam for Pilates teachers. I love what I do and continually seek to learn more about it. I have taught yoga since 2006 and made a living as a highly specialized German translator for health and medicine since 1995, when I received my MA from the renowned Johannes-Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. This background, coupled with keen observation skills, a unique ability to listen and a deep love of all forms of movement and has equipped me with the one skill I have always sought: Helping others heal through movement.
I can’t wait to meet you and help you achieve your goals!
The Studio
My studio is a bright, open, welcoming place. Located at my home, it provides plenty of sunlight in a quiet location. In summer, you can often hear birds singing.
In addition to ample mat space, my space is furnished with a full array of professional, state-of-the-art Balanced Body Pilates equipment: Reformer (Allegro 2 – the kind you’ve probably seen at studios around town), Trapeze Table (also known as “Cadillac”) and a Combo Chair. Various small props as well as a Spine Corrector round out the studio setup.
